There are currently 7 trustees/ management committee members who make up the Oasis play Management Committee, a dedicated team who bring a wealth of skills and experience to managing the organisation. Meetings are every 6 weeks and usually last for 2 hours. Trustees are encouraged to get involved in events and other volunteering opportunities at Oasisplay.
There are currently 20 full time equivalent staff which includes 5 full time workers and 35 part time and sessional workers.
The Treasurer will work closely with the Director and Finance manager to ensure good management and oversight of the finances. This is a voluntary unpaid position.
Responsibilities of the Treasurer
Overall
- Oversee the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
- Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place.
- Monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation.
- Oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits.
Specifically
- Liaise with the Director, Finance Manager and committee members to ensure the financial viability of the organisation.
- Make fellow committee members aware of their financial obligations and take a lead in interpreting financial data to them.
- Regularly report the financial position at committee meetings (balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance etc.)
- Oversee the production of an annual budget and propose its adoption at the last meeting of the previous financial year.
- Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures and controls are in place.
Qualities
- Knowledge and experience of current fundraising and finance practice relevant to voluntary and community organisations.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and financial management.
- Good financial analysis skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly
